As part of NRFABCON's regional Bell Miner Associated Dieback Project, we're asking landholders to contribute to our Citizen Science project. We are looking for information about Bell Miner colonies and the extent of BMAD affected forest.

The NRFABCON Strategic Plan was prepared and endorsed by members in 2014. It is an agreed suite of actions designed to support our network in achieving its goal of ecologically sustainable fire management in the Northern Rivers.

The preparation of the plan was funded by the North Coast Local Land Services and involved consultation with a broad range of stakeholders including local councils, state government agencies, research institutions, indigenous organisations, conservation groups, farmer representative groups, land management support organisations and community groups, in addition to interested individuals.

Five years on, its time to review the Plan. What key issues are facing the region? What priorities should we focus on?

Toonumbar BMAD Field day Dec 15 2019 POSTPONED

As our NSW Environmental Trust funded BMAD project draws to a close, interested landholders are invited to the project site, see recovering grassy forest post burn, listen to the experiences of the Wayne and Susan Somerville at Creeks bend and their ongoing efforts to restore BMAD-affected forest. Lantana Master's, Grant Gibson, will be onsite to talk about chemical control of weeds and Best Practice splatter gun tecniques. Ecologist David Charley will share his knowledge about habitat values and monitoring Bell Miner numbers.

Scheduled for Friday Dec 13 - subject to fires - 10.30 to 1.30pm, Afterlee Road, Toonumbar.
